Your body will response to injury that caused by inflammatory acne lesions and form acne scar. Normally, scarring is a result of severe nodular acne that occurs deep in the skin. However it can be arise from more superficial inflamed lesions.

Most people will have acne scars that are mild. Some people will have scars that look significant even to others. The best approach is prevention and to treat acne right away as sometimes even mild acne can cause scarring, this can minimize the risk of permanent acne scars. There are many possible ways to treat acne, such as the acne scar removal that I mention in my website.

Acne scar is caused by 2 types of tissue response to the inflammation of acne:

Increased Tissue Formation

The scars caused by increased tissue formation are called keloids or hypertrophic scars. These acne scars are the most common types that bulge out and look like lumps. Both scars are associated with an exaggerated formation of scar tissue due to excessive amounts of collagen production.

When the skin cells injury, our body will be produce more collage. An irregularly-shape scar will form as the collage become piled up in fibrous masses. Moreover, the size of it can be increased till look like a minor injury. It is known as an ‘over-scarring’ and usually occur in dark-skinned individual.

Loss of Tissues

Acne scars resulting from loss of tissue are more common than scars resulting from increased tissue formation. Some appear as holes, pits, or craters in the skin which called atrophic scar or crateriform scars. These depressed, cavity-like, inward-directed scars are associated with a lack of tissue that occurs when the inflammation from healed acne causes destruction to the skin. The scar tissue contracts and binds the skin down.

It is not easy to treat acne scar, however you can do it with proper treatment. Nowadays, there are various types of acne scar removal that you can use based on the kind of skin you have and the kinds of scars you have. However for some people who have a combination of different types of scars, one acne scar treatment may not work on them all.
